This blog is set up to track the events of our Mom's recent heart attack and pneumonia.

Today, my brother flew back to Boston after conferring with Dr. Silverstein, Mom's pulmonary specialist. The hospital is gradually withdrawing the sedation and breathing apparatus that is helping Mom breathe. Dr. Silverstein said this should take another two days or so.

We are still waiting to see if Mom has pneumonia, pneumonia and a tumor or some other problem with her lung(s). We should know more within 72 hours.

I stayed home from the hospital this evening to rest.

I think it is important:

1) to know what they are and are not saying to her when they lighten sedation and

2) that you be there to talk to her the next time they lighten sedation.

Can you do this?
